Abstract

Disturbance of humanmicrobiotamanifests in periodontitis that is connected with many other diseases.Adjustment of human microbiota by herbs intended present study to determinethe response of hydroalcoholic extract of Plumeriaalbaleaves (HEPAL) against periodontal disease(PD) triggering bacteria. Current study involvedpreparation of HEPAL via Soxhletextraction, followed by phytochemical screening and evaluation of inhibitory potential of HEPAL against PDtriggering bacteria such as P. aeruginosa, S. pyogenes, S. aureus and E. faecalis. The phytochemical screening of HEPAL exhibited presence of alkaloid, flavonoids, glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins, and amino acids. The HEPAL exhibited its best inhibition activity against S. aureus and E. faecalis. Present study concludes that HEPAL possess high inhibitoryactivity against PD triggering bacteria.High inhibitory potential of HEPALagainst PD could be attributed topresence of flavonoidal and alkaloidal constituents.
